MESH Project Evaluation

The task was to make a corporate video for the MESH project, Cutting Hedge. The video was to show the Cutting Hedge project which was set in order to help the local community that have overgrown gardens and the residents are on the verge of eviction by the council. The video had to be 5-8 minutes and had to include the whole process that MESH had to go through to create the project.

For this task, I worked in a group with Samuel and Zoe. Our topic of the project was the after effect that Cutting Hedge done to the volunteers. My role was to do pre-production paperwork at the beginning of the task. I was responsible for getting talent and location releases as well as risks assessments. I also helped recording footage for other groups as well as recording audio.

For my role, I had to think of any risks that could potentially harm someone either in my group or who we were interviewing. I also had to do the legal paperwork which gave us permission to film the people we were interviewing as well as the location.

The most enjoyable aspect of the video for me was practicing on equipment as it helped me gain the knowledge of how to use audio equipment in which, I used that skill later on in the project

The most challenging aspect of the challenge was working with people who like to take control of the project instead of working as a group. I would have liked to have helped with editing but it seemed as if I was not wanted as I lack expierence with Premire Pro.

I would try and engage with my group more and try to volunteer myself for anything other than just pre-production work as it wasn't a challenging role. I would communicate with other groups to see their work and how it would correlate to ours in the aspect of continuity, instead of the whole video looking like irt was done in separate groups with different styles.

The project has helped my development on equipment, especially audio as last year I did not have control in any project apart from the paperwork.

I will take the knowledge of how to use audio equipment from this project as well as how a fluid head tri-pod is better than the regualr tri-pod which I normally use in my projects.
